This section of the SNOMED CT Release Files Specification provides details of the
structure and content of
files distributed by IHTSDO as part of the SNOMED CT International Release. It is
also the standard format in which producers of
SNOMED CT Extension are required to use when distributing their extensions to IHTSDO, other Members and
licenses.
The files specified by this section form part of

is flexible, unambiguous and designed as a simple stable format with support for
robust versioning, while enabling innovation through adaptations to cater for changing
requirements. This format is not mandated as an internal format for use in software
applications nor for any other purpose other than distribution of SNOMED CT.
